Pierre-Olivier Sur is a member of the Paris and Phnom Penh Bars, Associate Member of Temple Garden Chambers (London), and lawyer on the list of defence counsels for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

He was sworn in 1985, elected “Secrétaire de la Conférence” in 1990, member of the Paris Bar Council in 1998, and Head of the Paris Bar in 2014. He was an associate of Olivier Schnerb firm and became Partner at FTMS in 2000.
His reputation in the Criminal Law field and his experience as Head of the Paris Bar, conjugated with the supervision of the hyper-specialised lawyers of his team, led by Mathias Chichportich, have conducted FTMS to intervene in leading criminal cases which require a total commitment to procedure and when necessary, to crisis communication.

Pierre-Olivier Sur began his career by pleading before the Assize Courts and directed his practice towards the most complex cases. In France, he is regularly appointed by major groups or their CEOs to represent them in political and financial cases and cases addressing public health issues and major accidents. He also appears before international courts and frequently pleads abroad, particularly in Africa.

He distinguishes himself by an acute knowledge of the functioning of political and diplomatic institutions and of the media sector and has developed a recognised expertise in the most sensitive cases.

In addition, he participates in major debates on the progress of justice through the lobbying of the legal profession before public authorities and the publication of numerous articles or columns. He is at the origin of the first Compliance Officer Diploma in France (University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas).

He published “Cours de droit pénal général” and “Une histoire des avocats en France” (Dalloz) in addition to a collection of short stories and an essay, “Dans les yeux du bourreau” (JC Lattès, nominated for the Fémina prize for essays in 2010). He also participated in Raymond Depardon’s film “Délits Flagrants” which received the César for best documentary in 1995.

Pierre-Olivier Sur was awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (2003) and Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (2008), and promoted Officer de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur (2018).

Pierre-Olivier Sur is recognized by the Legal 500 and recommended in Criminal Law and Business Criminal Law.
