The Nanterre Regional Court declared itself competent to rule on the entire estate of Johnny Hallyday, considering that the singer, who died on 5 December 2017, was a French resident. The Nanterre High Court thus ruled in favour of Laura Smet and David Hallyday and applied French law to his succession.
